Pascack Valley Train Line Update - Today, Sunday, October 28, 2007 marked the first day of the Pascack Valley Train Line updated schedule.  The new schedule will include the first weekend service for the Pascack Valley Train Line in 60 years!  Last Monday, the 22nd of October, The Bergen Record reported that with the installation of new tracks the Pascack Valley Train will be able to run in both directions all day between Bergen County and Hoboken.  The updated Train Service will add 15 new weekday trains and 23 weekend trains for the convenience of NYC commuters working off peak hours and living in the Pascack Valley area.

Here comes the Pascack Valley Train pulling into the Oradell Train Station in Oradell, New Jersey.

Pascack Valley Real Estate Homeowner News - The weather outside is like Summer today but Old Man Winter is on his way.  In the news tonight reports are promising that the cost of fuel will be going up for the coming Winter months!   With this in mind, the following tips may help to keep your Pascack Valley home from losing that costly heat.

1. Check the seals on your doors and windows.
2. Install a digital thermostat with a timer that keeps the heat low during the day when you are not home and goes up before you return home.
3. Install outlet insulators to keep drafts out.
4. Install outlet plugs to keep the outlet sealed when not in use. This helps to keep young fingers out of electrical outlets too!
5. Place draft stoppers under doors and on window sills to stop drafts from entering your home.
6. Cover all wall air-conditioning units with Styrofoam insulators inside as well as vinyl-covers outside.
7. Make sure all storm windows are in the proper position.
8. Keep flue in fireplace in the closed position when not in use.
9. Be sure all outdoor water spigots are shut off and hoses disconnected.
10. Where there are any type of cable chords or wires entering your home, seal tight around the openings.

Pascack Valley in the Fall is our favorite time of year!   We love the beauty of the changing seasons.  The shades of Fall bring out an abundance of vibrant colors in the beautiful trees that are synonymous with the Pascack Valley.

With the beauty of the falling leaves comes concerns of Home maintenance tasks for the upcoming winter months.  Whether you're a Pascack Valley homeowner thinking of Selling or a Buyer considering purchasing a home in the Pascack Valley, you'll want to be aware of these important home tips. 

The following is HammersTeam's list of Home Tips To Follow:

• Keep gutters free of debris such as leaves.  When gutters remain clogged, water seepage into a home's foundation can cause very unpleasant and costly results.
• If your home has a Basement, always keep your dehumidifier running.  Even when Summer is over, moisture is in the air and mold can grow on basement walls.  
• Check to make sure all gutter leaders are properly connected.  Once the snow starts to fly, this may become impossible to do.
• Now is a good time to make sure that the soil surrounding your home gently slopes away from the perimeter.  This will aid in keeping moisture from pooling around the foundation.
• Check all caulking seals around doors and windows.
• Have your furnace checked now before the thermometer drops.
• Leaves should be removed from all garden beds and brought to the curbside, as per your town ordinances. 
• Trim all bushes and trees - particularly those that are growing too close to your home.
• Clear all porches, decks and pathways of any plants or lawn furniture before the fall and winter winds begin to blow.  Be sure to wipe down your lawn furniture before storing it for the winter months.
• Winterize pools, sprinkler systems and get all outdoor painting jobs done now.  Especially those decks, fences and porches.
